The responses from two separate surveys, one to direct writers and the other to reinsurers, have been combined into this single report. Description: This experience study, from the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Individual Life,’ was conducted by the SOA’s Individual Life Insurance Experience Committee. This report is on intercompany mortality experience by amount of insurance under standard individually underwritten issues between 1990 and 1991 anniversaries. The report also combines experience between 1986 and 1991 anniversaries in order to provide a larger volume of data. This report is a revision of an earlier publication of the ‘Mortality under Standard Individually Underwritten Life Insurance Between 1990 and 1991 Anniversaries.’ This revision corrects previous mortality ratios for all 1986-91 and 1985-90 experience and 1990-91 smoker/nonsmoker experience. Description: This report, part of the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Business Practice Surveys,’ presents the results of the survey conducted by the SOA Committee on Life Insurance Mortality and Underwriting Surveys - Preferred Underwriting Survey Subcommittee. This survey asked for preferred risk underwriting practices as of July 2002. This is the third such survey completed by the Society of Actuaries. The intent of this survey was to gather information on the many variations in preferred risk underwriting.

This report is on intercompany mortality experience by amount of insurance under standard individually underwritten issues, including policy years 2005–07. In the 2002-04 and 2004-05 Studies, the Milliman Extension to the 1975-80 Basic Tables was used. This extended data through issue age 87. For this study, a further extension to issue age 99 was used. This can be found in the spreadsheet titled Issue Age 99 1975-80 Basic Table Extension. The four zipped files found on this page contain Excel pivot tables that provide more detail of the data summarized in the report.

Description: This report, part of the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Business Practice Surveys,’ presents the results of the survey on laboratory testing issues, prepared by the SOA Committee on Life Insurance Mortality and Underwriting Surveys Laboratory Tests Survey Subcommittee. The survey asks questions about companies’ internal practices in regards to how laboratory tests become part of the underwriting paradigm, in particular, how changes are made, who the decision-makers are, and what support is necessary to add a test.

Description: Results of the committee's 2006 Group Term Life Experience Study, based on experience data from 1999 through 2001. Experience included Death, Disability Waiver of Premium “Waiver”, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment “AD&D” benefits. Also, information is presented separately for Individually Billed versus Self-Administered business. Available pivot tables enable companies to perform their own analysis.
